Davis Mill Road located in Germantown, MD had experienced erosion causing a portion of the roadway to become un-stabilized along the embankment with Wildcat Branch. WRMA, sub-consultant to MCI, Inc., performed emergency hydraulic modeling services for the proposed placement of a retaining wall to stabilize the embankment along Wildcat Branch, a tributary to Great Seneca Creek. The WRMA design team performed a floodplain delineation study to determine the peak discharge for the watershed as well as to determine the existing vs. proposed floodplain extents given the proposed retaining wall improvements. WRMA also assisted with the collection of topographic and hydraulic data and developed a 1-D hydraulic HEC-RAS model to delineate the existing and proposed floodplains.
