The WRMA team provided engineering design to establish the quantity of sediment deposition relative to the original condition for the purposes of developing a sediment removal and re-grading plan that would serve to control or reduce the quantity of sediments flowing through the existing control structure.
The WRMA team designed a triple-tiered sediment control facility to trap sediments prior to discharge through the culvert and levee. Sediment material was removed from the front of the structure to re-establish the original grade elevations prior to sediment deposition. Our design team also provided bank stabilization on the ends of the headwall with rock rip-rap. Other improvements included refurbishment of the operable bevel gears and piggy back adaptors for operation of the weir plates. Modifications were made to improve the operation of the movable gated weir plates to facilitate surface water management.
