PROPERTY MANAGEMENT PROJECTS
Consumptive Water Use Permit Acquisition for Common Area Irrigation
Outrigger Harbour Condominium Association, Jensen Beach, FL
The Outrigger Harbour subdivision is an upscale waterfront complex located in Jensen Beach, Florida. The subdivision is located on the intracoastal waterway and is composed of luxury town style condominiums.
Problem: The subdivision had been irrigating their common areas using potable water. The Condominium Association proposed the idea of using groundwater to irrigate common areas to reduce their irrigation costs.
Solution: WRMA was retained to investigate the possibility of using groundwater to irrigate the common areas throughout the Outrigger Harbour subdivision. WRMA studied the facility and quantified the common area acreage in order to determine the volume of groundwater that would be required to irrigate these areas. WRMA applied groundwater models and determined that there was sufficient groundwater available to use groundwater well withdrawal to provide a groundwater sourced water supply for common area irrigation purposes. Prior to installing a groundwater well, WRMA prepared a South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) Consumptive Water Use Permit application on behalf of the Outrigger Harbour Condominium Association. The permit application was submitted to the SFWMD and subsequently, a water use general permit was issued to the Outrigger Harbour Condominium Association.
WRMA is currently assisting the Outrigger Harbour Condominium Association with the final siting and design of the groundwater well prior to installation.
